Why does the world need The Web Department?
About three years ago, we started to do some work for a few local graphic designers through our sister business, Boyd Design. They usually had a design that they needed coded into HTML or integrated into a shopping cart or content management system. We found that this was a good source of repeat business as we would get to know the clients, and they would get to know our products and how to work with us.
This is obviously a fairly common relationship, Graphic designers and Web developers working together, but it hit me that no one is really trying to cater to this market in a "full service" type model.
That is to say, there are plenty of companies out there offering systems and software with reseller pricing models, but not many of them want to get their hands dirty offering a "do it yourself" style service, or they are web design companies, who treat these graphic design companies like regular clients. Don't get me wrong, I am sure there are a lot of partnerships out there building some great sites and making a good profit, but I think that it can be done better.
So here is a company created specifically to cater for you, the graphic designers and marketing experts who don't know how to build a website, but you know how you want it to be built!
